Agent of change:a crash course
The Junior Journey Agent of Change is meant to teach girls the importance of understanding themselves, their values, and teaming up with others. This Journey is also about learning how girls can become powerful if they work together.
earning the journey awards
Every Girl Scout Journey has three sub-awards. Each of these have different criteria. Below are some ideas and suggestions.
Power of one award
- Have each girl research one powerful woman in history and bring in an article and picture of this woman. Share with your troop.
- Have each girl list her strengths and talk about how she became good at these things: does she practice, does she study, etc.
power of team award
- Write out a comic or a skit involving each girl and show how they work together to help solve a problem.
- Put a list of common "problems" in a jar. Ask each girl to pick one slip of paper out and read the problem. Talk together as a group and come up with suggestion on how to solve the problem.
power of community award
- Connect with another troop and work on a project that benefits your community. Organize a dumpster day cleanup, or plant flowers to beautify an area of your community. Organize a drive for supplies or donations of canned goods.
